Matt surprised Sam and I with a weekend trip to Canada to walk around the aquarium and the city. It was a perfect day for a family outing, and Sam's first trip out of the states. We went out and bought him a front-facing car seat for the car ride up north . He loved being able to see everything.Sam's first steps in a foreign land.We saw so many cool things at Stanley Park Aquarium. Sam was especially entertained. Moon Jellyfish. Some weird deep sea dweller.Baby moon jellys.Orange JellyfishHyacinth MacawsBull frog.Axolotl.Starfish.We were able to catch the Beluga show, and Sam and I were only inches away from getting soaked during the "splash the audience" routine. Me and baby Sam and mommy beluga and baby beluga. After we had seen our fair share of animal life, we headed down into the city to do some shopping on Robson St.We also stopped in at Cafe Crepe for a light dinner, and the candy store for dessert. All in all it was a great weekend. Seattle Dog Show
I was in HEAVEN last Saturday when we were able to attend the Seattle dog show to support Jan, Matt's mom, and her Brussles Griffon, Murphy. Courtney and I met Matt and Sam at the convention center, and we walked around for hours admiring all the different dog breeds.
Murphy did really good on Saturday, but had a harder time impressing the judges on Sunday. He is still number one in our book!
My favorite event was the agility competition. I would have loved to watch the Aussies do it, but we were only able to stay for the little dog event. It was fun anyway.Sam loves dogs just as much as Matt and I do, and he kept saying "guh." "guh." (his version of dog) the whole day.
Maybe one day he'll show dogs just like his Nana Jan :)

30 years RAD!!!
Thats right! Matt turned 30 years old on Friday, March 12th. I figured he deserved a night full of embarrassing moments, tons of awesome friends, great food and oh yeah...a MAJOR flash back to 1980.
Such a totally awesome night! Happy birthday Matty!
But before we get into pictures from the night (thank you to Alycia for taking most of them), here is how it all played out:
6:30pm - Kyle and Mike pick Matthew up to take him out to dinner.
7:00pm - Guests arrive for surprise party at the Elks Lodge in Lynnwood.
7:30pm - I call Matt explaining that my dad has thrown his back out unloading band equipment at a gig in Lynnwood.
7:35pm - My dad calls Matt asking for help.
7:45pm - Matt, Kyle and Mike arrive at the "gig" to help my dad with some heavy lifting.
7:46pm - Matt is surprised at the door by all his friends and family dressed in ridiculous 80's garb.
Let the party begin!
