Sam slept the whole drive so when we arrived in Leavenworth lunch was the first thing we did.
We are lucky to have a little boy who will eat anything that is put in front of him. Pickles, Sauerkraut and Bratwurst were just a few of the things he tested, enjoyed and devoured. (I just realized why Sam has been a little gassy the last two days...the cabbage.)After lunch we visited lots of the little shops and boutiques on the main road and then took a walk through the park down by the river.
I am glad that Matt and Sam are as into people watching as I am because there where a ton of "different" people to check out. Exhibit A: Yeah dude, another tattoo will make you that much more attractive. Do it.After a few hours of walking and gawking, we stopped for some ice cream. It was so good. Sam thoroughly enjoyed dipping his sample spoon into our cones of chocolate and peanut butter.
As much fun as we had in Leavenworth, I don't really get the appeal. It is a really pretty area but I don't really understand how people can spend weekends there. For us, its a good 6 hours of entertainment and yummy food, but that's about it. The shops are full of trinkets and junk and the rest are antiques that I could find 10 minutes down the road in Snohomish.I feel like we might be missing something.
On the way home, which is such a pretty drive through the mountains, we stopped to check out the river. Sam loved throwing rocks into the water and playing with the infinite supply of sticks.I just enjoyed being out of the house.
